The Write It Workshop Series is Ripple Foundation’s creative writing program to inspire young authors. The series focuses on improving the writing skills of children and youth and increasing their confidence in writing. Currently, there are three workshops in the series, which can be delivered back-to-back or individually. Each workshop is 60 minutes in length. The workshops are:
Plotline Play-By-Play: The purpose of this workshop is to teach participants about the role of plot structure in stories.
Brainstorm Bonanza: The purpose of this workshop is to teach participants how to brainstorm story ideas effectively.
Mixed Bag Mayhem: The purpose of this workshop is to teach participants about the importance of characters and character development in storylines.
These workshops were developed by Angela De Palma, an Ontario Certified Teacher with over 20 years of experience in education. Workshops are intended for children in grades 4-8, with a minimum of 4 participants recommended for group activities.
Ripple Foundation is actively seeking community partners, such as public libraries and schools who would like to be involved in the delivery of these workshops in their local communities.
Each workshop kit includes: objectives, activity instructions and reproducible materials for activities. These kits are available for download at these links below:
